Description:
Every child deserves to walk into school feeling seen, valued, and confident but for many from low-income families, even a simple haircut is out of reach.
Our Fresh Cut Initiative by Developing Kids Into Innovators (DKIN) provides free back-to-school haircuts for kids aged 5–17 in Edmonton and Toronto. This program isn’t just about grooming—it’s about dignity, protection from bullying, and emotional well-being.
Why It Matters:
Children without access to proper grooming often face bullying, exclusion, and embarrassment. These quiet battles deeply impact their self-esteem, academic performance, and emotional health. Your donation can break that cycle. A clean, fresh haircut might seem small—but it can change how a child sees themselves and how the world treats them.
The Power of a Fresh Cut:
-
Boosts self-worth and school readiness
-
Shields kids from appearance-based bullying
-
Encourages healthy hygiene habits
-
Restores a sense of pride and identity
-
Gives families a moment of relief and support
As Seen on CBC News:
Our program is being recognized for its impact across Canada offering more than just haircuts, but hope and community care.
How It Works:
Your donation directly sponsors a haircut for a child from a low-income household. Haircuts are provided by trusted volunteer barbers and stylists who speak life into each child sometimes being the only positive voice they hear that week.
